The new season has started and there seem to be quite a few marlin about, particularly striped marlin which is perhaps surprising. News from Pemba reports that on one day there were no less than 30 marlin in the fish market over there caught by drift gill nets. Although we sport fishermen hate to hear of so many marlin being caught in nets it does indicate that there must be quite a few of them there.
