This delicate sport fishing requires the finest crews
Fly fishing in Kenya is the fastest growing branch of deep sea fishing - and Kenya and the Pemba Channel offers fantastic opportunities for fly fishing enthusiasts with no less than SIX species of billfish plus sharks, including mako, dorado, trevallies, wahoo, and many more.
Kenya can boast some of the best fly fishing in the world for striped marlin, sailfish and broadbill swordfish as well as many other game fishes, which are prolific in these waters.
The first broadbill ever taken on fly was taken off the Kenya coast and since then 2 more have been landed. The chances of a world record are very real. Large numbers of relatively small broadbill abound in the Pemba Channel making this an ideal destination for attempting the ultimate challenge of a broadbill on fly.
Shimoni is the #1 destination in Africa to catch striped marlin and skippers Pat & Simon Hemphill have landed more than any other skipper in recent years.
Stripies occur over the same months as the sailfish above with an average size of 55 Kg and with individual specimens of over 100 Kg.
Abundant during December, January, February and March and with an average size of between 25 and 30 Kg they offer fantastic sport on fly.
