Pemba Channel
Kenya sport fishing at its best in this world famous fishery. Africa's premier marlin destination.
All but one of the Africa Records for striped marlin were caught in the Pemba Channel, most of them from boats operated by Pat & Simon Hemphill. If you are an experienced deep-sea angler, a salmon fishermen, fly fisherman, or a complete novice who would like to experience big game fishing then Sea Adventures has what you are looking for.
These world-renowned skippers have between them have more than 60 years experience in these waters. Since 1992 skippers, Pat & Simon have each taken more marlin than any other skipper in East Africa. Fish aboard one of our top class sportfishing boats "Broadbill", or the new "Kamara II" - consistently the # 1 boats on the Kenya coast.
Are you tired of having to fight the crew for your rod? On our boats the crews will NOT hook the fish for you. The skippers and crews are very experienced and are happy to offer advice / tuition where necessary. If this is your first time fishing no need to worry because there will always be somebody there to tell you what to do. We take pride in helping in watching an angler catch his / her first billfish.
Sea Adventures Ltd operates under a tag and release policy for all billfishes and sharks. Only those fish that are deemed unlikely to recover satisfactorily will be boated and the skipper will have the final say. In the past Sea Adventures have consistently released more than 90% of all billfishes. All fish that are retained will be sold on the local market and the proceeds used for local community projects. In this way sport fishers are able to help the poor strive towards poverty alleviation. In recent years we have been able to employ additional teachers for one of the schools where the intake had more than doubled following the Kenya Government's free primary education policy.
Children over the age of 8yr are welcome and this could be a good time to introduce your son or daughter to big game fishing. Simon's son and daughter both caught their first marlin at the age of 10yr. and 11 yr. respectively. In 2009 10 yr. old Mark Carr-Hartley from Botswana caught his first marlin, sailfish and big yellowfin tuna.

There are no less than SIX varieties of billfish in the Pemba Channel and the possibilities of a grand slam (three different species in a 24-hr fishing period) are very real. Super grand slams (four species) have been recorded a number of times and there have even been three fantasy slams (five species) recorded off the Kenya Coast. Kenya is one of the few places in the world where this is possible!
Apart from billfish there are huge sharks (mako, tiger, hammerhead to
name but a few), exiting tuna fishing, large wahoo, narrow-barred mackerel,
barracuda, World record size giant trevally plus many others. Sea Adventures

of night fishing or combinations of day and night.
