Kenya
South of Mombasa, slightly north of the Tanzania borders. 8 jet hours from Europe and about 6 from South Africa. On the best fishing grounds in this part of the world.
Shimoni
At the far southern end of the coast is unspoilt Shimoni, with its relics of the slave trade and coral gardens. The Kisite / Mpunguti Marine Park can be reached from Shimoni or nearby Wasini lsland, a lovely trip by dhow or motorboat to an intriguing underwater world.
Shimoni is a small village set on the shores of a beautiful natural harbour and is one of the few places on the East Coast of Africa where the sun rises and sets over water.
Driving times

Driving times are of course variable depending on traffic and road conditions.
As a rule of thumb in this area, road transfer times are as follows
:-
- Nairobi - Mombasa 7 hrs
- Mombasa - Shimoni 2 hours
- Diani - Shimoni 1 hour
